It feels so good to be home again! I know I wrote a similar statement last year when I returned after being gone for several weeks, but I feel it again this time. There's something so safe and familiar about home - your own home. There is a song that Ponder, Harp, and Jennings sang years ago called Finally Home. It talks about the perils that surround us here on earth but in the chorus it contrasts that scene with this one:

But just think of stepping on shore and finding it Heaven! / Of touching a hand and finding it God's / Of breathing new air and finding it celestial! / Of waking up in glory and finding it home.

As we hear news story after news story reminding us just how bad this world is, let's remember that it will never truly be home. I am going to build my dream house someday here on earth. But it won't be the earth as we know it today. Isaiah talks about it when he says, "They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them" (Isaiah 65:21). God sent His son away from home so that He could pay the price to bring us home with Him. What a wonderful day when we are all finally home.

Thanking our Father for the promise of home,

Pastor Sutherland
