Making the Tough Choice

BMW uses a quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln in its advertising campaigns. It simply states, “The best way to predict the future is to to create it." A visionary mind will always be looking ahead and making decisions that will shape the future. And some of those decisions are difficult ones. The current rumors say that Apple will remove the headphone jack from this year's iPhone model. A lot of people don't like it, just as they didn't like Apple removing the CD drive from their computers four years ago. If you look around today, however, CD's and DVD's are nearing extinction. Apple has often been willing to make the tough choice that ultimately would lead to progress.

In the book of Proverbs we are told, "For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth" (Proverbs 3:12). A father, just like our Heavenly Father, sometimes has to make a tough decision to help shape the future of his son or daughter. The child may not like it sometimes, but after the fact they will look back and realize that their father was right after all. So fathers, don't get discouraged. Be willing to make the tough choice. Your child may not appreciate it at first, but in the end, it'll be worth it.
