Band Together

Last night at the evangelism conference Chelsea and I are attending, Pastor José Rojas shared a story. He said that he had the privilege of praying for a group of Marines before they went on a specific mission several years ago. Before they boarded the helicopters and flew into battle, the commander stood up and gave his men a powerful speech. He said, "I know that you have disagreements with the people around you. I hear you discussing things in the barracks. But today, set aside those differences. You are no longer African American or Asian American or Caucasian American. You are simply Americans. You are no longer Republicans or Democrats. You are simply Americans. It is time to band together and finish the mission you have been tasked to do."

After sharing the story, Pastor Rojas told us. "You are soldiers of the God of heaven. It's time to set aside your differences. You are no longer liberals or conservatives. You are Christians, children of God, and it's time to band together and finish the mission you have been tasked to do." When Jesus was on earth, He told His disciples, "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (Luke 10:2). Are you bogged down in church politics or fighting with your brothers and sisters? It's time to lay all that aside and band together. There is a war to win and the God of heaven wants to use you. Are you willing to let Him?
