It was about 11 at night and I couldn't keep my eyes open. No matter how hard I tried or how much I told myself to stay awake, my eyelids would close and I would check out for half a second before I realized I had fallen asleep. "Stay awake, Chelsea. Joel is tired too and needs your help to stay alert while he drives. He's tired too!" Joel and were driving through Arizona and were almost to Flagstaff where we were planning on staying the night. The day before we had finished packing my little Honda Civic, prepping it for our cross-country journey to Tennessee. In the weeks leading up to our wedding I had begun to pack up my room, getting ready to move from the home I had lived in for nearly a decade. I was getting ready to say goodbye to my family and start a new life in a new state. Wow! The thought hit me hard and more than once, tears would come to my eyes. And yet, I had a peace. For I knew there was a promise I could hold onto when I looked into the face of the uncertain future.
Joshua 1:9 says, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." I dearly love this verse because it applies to any difficult situation in life. Perhaps for you, dear reader, life is difficult because of health issues. Perhaps stress is coming from family tension or pressure from work. Perhaps it's because of a death in the family or from financial troubles. No matter what it may be, we have been promised that our God will be with us ALWAYS! With this promise, we can truly have a peace that no one can take from us.
